ABOUT US

GHETTO EMPOWERMENT MINISTRIES (GEM)Inc.
                                                               …unveiling hidden treasures

GEM is a divine mandate which came formally into being on the 4th of Novemeber,2006 amidst clergies, church workers and leaders at the Sabon-rai baptist church Ungwar gusoro- Rigachikun, Kaduna, Nigeria. Over the years it has undergone metamorphosis to reach its present status. We have held various open air gospel campaigns/crusades leading many to Christ. Vocational training, medical outreaches and motivational seminars are also  part of our activities.

Today we have a well established multi talent wing operating from Kano, Nigeria. It seeks to create a platform for raising global heroes in all spheres of human endowment (music, drama, dance, choreography, writing, oratory e.t.c) and currently headed by Mr. Olubode Johnson.

We also have the medical mission outreach wing christened Dennis Rimfa (DR) foundation aimed at catering for the basic health needs of man at no cost at all. Children de-worming programs, free medical consultation plus treatment, referral e.t.c are part of our laudable achievements. Free surgeries are soon to commence. We synergize with missionaries who are already in the field to move the gospel forward.

GEM has reputable interpreters, pastors, missionaries, evangelists, teachers, medics, lawyers, administrators and people from other fields, both as active members and partners. This has made us more efficient, transparent and promising. You can contact us via our email ghettoempowermentministries@yahoo.com and P.O Box in case you are led to collaborate with us! Shalom!

ABOUT THE FOUNDER:

An unassuming but passionate young man, born to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvanus Abi Adikpe in Lagos, Nigeria. He hails from Obi local government area of Benue state but spent most of his life in Kaduna state, Nigeria. He grew up as a barrack boy while his father served as a SNCO in the Nigerian Army. Following his dad's retirement from the military, he continued  life as a typical “ungwar” (ghetto) boy in a suburb settlement in Kaduna state.

Life was not fun for him while growing up. He encountered all the obstacles, hurdles, discouragements and disadvantages of a ghetto boy. Poverty was like a bed mate. He really never enjoyed the pleasurable privileges children of his days were entitled to. The schools he attended were the worst  of schools. Inspite of this challenges, he made up his mind to break out of the shackles of poverty and slavery and this became more realizable the day he gave his life to Christ. Thanks also to his dad who will always tell him that University is for all, whether rich or poor and that if he worked hard he will certainly rub shoulders with the children of the high and mighty. Since then, diligence, determination and perseverance became his watchword.

After much trials, temptations, denials, rejections, failures and pain he didn't just get admission into the University but, he got admission to read Medicine and Surgery at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He graduated from medical school in record time despite the challenges of withdrawal and repeat that befell many of his colleagues. While in medical school he did do many things to earn money to meet needs, the latest of which was selling of noodles, bread and other provisions in his room  (between 4th and 5th year). Today he is a registered and practicing medical doctor with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
His passion for ghetto empowerment stemmed from his experiences, as he strongly believes that a ghetto child can rise to any height, given the right atmosphere, information, and motivation. So in 2006 while in med school, he caught the vision of starting a ministry which he named Ghetto Empowerment Ministries (GEM) Inc. He indeed, like Paul the apostle, was not disobedient to the heavenly vision! He has vowed to live a life of impact before leaving planet earth.

Dr. Innnocent Abi is a friend, both to the great and the small and has been influencing people to be all God has created them to be. He is currently running a Master degree program in Human Physiology at his alma mater. He is a skillful physician, gospel preacher and motivational speaker with vast knowledge and insight of both the Bible and general life. His dream is to see many champions come out of their hiding places (the ghettos) like Gideon in the Bible to manifest their full potentials and to also make the world a better place!
